Volvo S60 Safety

Volvo is well known for its safety features, and the S60 is no exception. The vehicle has driver and passenger airbags as well as front, side and rear head airbags to further minimize injury in the event of a collision. Even on older models, safety features aren't lacking. S60s from 2007 come standard with:

• Stability control, which detects when there's a loss of traction
• Anti-whiplash seats for added protection in the event of a collision
• Full-length side-curtain airbags

In later model years, you can find Volvo's City Safety automatically applies brakes to avoid low-speed collisions—standard after the 2011 redesign, as well as advanced upgrades like lane-keep assist to help you stay in the correct lane—standard in 2019, along with rear-view camera, as well as rain-sensing wiper option adjusts speed automatically depending on the amount of water on the windshield.

Volvo S60 Interior

The S60 certainly looks the part of a luxury sedan on the inside. That said, the driver information display is noted for not being intuitively placed, even on second-generation (2010-2018) versions of the S60, such as the 2018 edition. However, this was addressed in 2019, making the infotainment system and general driver display easier to see and use. Visibility is good across all generations thanks to thin roof pillars. And build quality is solid—even on older, first-generation models (2000-2009).

While you might find technology lacking on first-generation models, they still come with a stereo with Dolby surround sound options. The second generation and most recent models include features such as Wi-Fi hotspot capability and full smartphone integration. The 2019 vehicle also has the Volvo On Call app, which lets you locate, lock and even warm up the vehicle remotely. 

Volvo S60 Space

The S60 can seat up to five people and has between 11 and 13 cubic feet of trunk space, depending on model year. It's perfect for carrying your weekend shopping, and there's ample head and legroom for both drivers and passengers. Things can get a bit tight in the back, however, depending on trim. The longer wheelbase of the T5 trim is the best option if you regularly carry passengers, as legroom is improved.

Volvo S60 Comfort

Overall, the S60 delivers a quiet and comfortable ride whether you're on a long haul trip or darting through the city. While more performance-focused powertrain trims such as the T6 have more power under the hood, handling and responsiveness is adequate across all S60 options.
