Toyota RAV 4 Safety

The Toyota RAV4 has always ranked high in safety ratings, and the front and side airbags throughout the vehicle are just the start. The RAV4 protects little passengers with seatbelt height adjusters, rear door locks and anchor points for child restraint systems. XLE and SE models from 2016 onwards offer blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert systems for extra help on the road. In newer RAV4s, the Toyota Safety Sense package introduces handy features like:

Inside the RAV4, it’s all about the small details that add comfort to the drive. Front and back seats can be heated or ventilated, depending on the weather. Power windows function automatically at the driver’s seat so you’re not stuck with your hand on the controls. You get air conditioning in RAV4s from 2004, plus dual-zone climate control in later models, such as 2013, so the driver and passenger can customize their temperatures. Some taller drivers report limited headroom in the front, but with a lower rear seating area, this is less of an issue for passengers.

Early RAV4s like the 2007 have a basic infotainment system that allows Bluetooth and cabled connections to smartphones, plus mirroring between your phone and the in-car screen. Models from 2012 and up come with Entune, an infotainment system featuring:

Entune is compatible with Apple CarPlay, though you’ll want to check if your phone can sync up as some users report issues. Many RAV4s also come with a subscription-based GPS service.

There’s space for five to fit comfortably inside the RAV4, with ample legroom for adults in both the front and back. Rear seats in newer models from 2018 fold flat on a 60/40 split, letting you customize the cargo area. Compact spaces throughout the cabin allow for stowing small items with easy access.

While the RAV4’s four-cylinder engine is top of its class, some drivers feel that it can be a little noisy during acceleration. The 2019 model is higher and wider than previous versions, resulting in a stabler ride that really grips the pavement. This year's models have also been reviewed as having better handling and tighter steering, particularly on sharp turns. Both the hybrid and regular-engine RAV4 get high fuel economy ratings for their classes.
