Toyota Camry Safety

The Toyota Camry is well-equipped with safety features across generations. Features on models from 2006 include: 

• Standard anti-lock brakes to avoid skidding 
• Optional front-seat side and full-length side curtain airbags 
• Available stability control and traction control to prevent skidding (on the V6)

Its 2019 STAR system offers active features such as SmartStop technology, which slows the car when the brake and accelerator pedals are used at the same time. Also available is Safety Sense technologies to prevent collisions, such as pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Alert to sense veering and blind spot monitor systems to assist with parking or changing lanes. However, some drivers find these advanced features too sensitive.

Toyota Camry Interior

Toyota Camrys are available in a wide range of interior styles and colours, depending on the trim and generation. For example, lower-end models come with fabric seats while higher-end versions have leather. The newest, eighth generation (from 2017) offers power windows and electric rear window defrosters.

On models from 2010, other optional features include:

• Reclining rear seats
• Moonroof
• Power passenger seat
• Climate control for the driver and front-seat passenger

Heated seats, a navigation system and keyless entry are available with the higher-end XLE trim.

Toyota Camry Technology

The Camry’s technology is its latest generation is a standout feature. Toyota’s Entune App Suite is an in-dash smart service, connecting you to your apps, GPS, music and contacts via touch or voice recognition. However, the integrated audio system on some models isn’t compatible with all phones, and some drivers find the Bluetooth smartphone integration to be slow. Newer vehicles from 2018 offer seven or eight-inch displays and wireless charging. The Safety Connect system on higher-end models offers Automatic Collision Notification and Enhanced Roadside Assistance to immediately provide Toyota agents with your car’s GPS location.

Standard on older models from 2008 are some basics, like a six-speaker CD audio system, auxiliary jack and a telescoping steering wheel, the height and distance of which is adjustable for a safer, more comfortable driving experience.

Toyota Camry Space

The Toyota Camry sedan is a family favourite for its spacious interior and abundance of cargo space. XSEs and XLEs provide additional headroom with their Moonroof feature, while front seats come with extra legroom. Hybrids are as roomy as their gas-powered counterparts.

Toyota Camry Comfort

Interior access to the trunk, front and rear cup holders and plenty of legroom make the Camry a comfortable and spacious choice for a family of five on a road trip—or even five adults. The newest generations have strong, lightweight frames for ease of handling and a smooth ride.
