Mercedes-Benz S-Class Summary
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the brand's top-end luxury sedan. With starting prices well into six figures, this super-elite model offers pretty much everything you can think of. Built for performance and comfort, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has powerful engine options (V6, V8 or V12), high-tech features, and advanced safety technology. Available as a sedan, coupe and cabriolet, this model is well-known for its ultra-plush seating and spacious backseats. With so many features available to rear passengers (especially in the Maybach trim), it feels more like a limousine than a full-sized sedan.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Safety
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is loaded with standard and optional features, many of which have been available long before other models. Even as early as 2010, drivers could enjoy night vision mode, brake assist, and a driver drowsiness monitor. In 2011, blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning were introduced. Fast forward to today, drivers can expect much more tech, such as:
- Crosswind assist, which course corrects you during strong winds
- Pre-Safe system, which tightens your seatbelts during a collision
- Lane-keeping assist
- Forward-collision warning
- Head-up display
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Interior
The is just as spectacular as the exterior, with 16-way adjustable seats, leather upholstery, heated seating, massaging seats and touches of real wood. With so much focus on passenger comfort, this model is well-suited for someone who can afford their own driver. Other available luxury features include a refrigerator box, panoramic sunroof and heated and cooled cupholders. The list of features is so long, part of the fun is going for a test drive and discovering them for yourself.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Technology
As the brand's top-line sedan, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is well-kitted with loads of standard and available . Starting in 2013 before the full redesign, parking sensors and a rearview camera became standard. In 2015, the infotainment system was upgraded to include a touchpad screen. In 2020, automatic parking assist became standard in the sedan, while a surround-view camera was added to the coupe and cabriolet. Other highlights include:
- A 13-speaker Burmester sound system
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Wireless phone charger
- Optional rear-seat infotainment system
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Space
The full-size sedan offers more than enough seating for all five passengers of any size. Opting for the super-luxury Maybach trim gives rear-seat passengers over a foot of extra legroom. Seating is equally as plush and spacious in the cabriolet and coupe models, but there is more trunk in the sedan body. As with all convertibles with this style top, the trunk is reduced when the roof is stowed but still gives over seven cubic feet of cargo room to play with.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Comfort
The base engine of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class packs a powerful punch at 362 horsepower, and the further up the trim line you go, the more potent the ride. Although armed with a beastly engine, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a smooth, quiet and comfortable ride, even on uneven roads. There's little chance of feeling anything but relaxed in this model, however, its driving dynamics and optional nine-speed automatic transmission (available since 2017) make this an exciting model to drive.
