Hyundai Santa Fe Safety

The Santa Fe utilizes Hyundai SmartSense technology, and this includes safety features like adaptive cruise control and external cameras to help with manoeuvring those tight spots. These give added peace of mind on the road and come standard in newer models from 2018. 

Other safety features you can expect are:

• Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Brake Assist (RCTA), which monitors behind you for approaching vehicles as you reverse
• Six standard airbags
• High-strength steel exterior for maximum shock absorption in a collision 

Older models from 2010 are still well-equipped with safety features, such as  

• Electronic stability control and antilock disc brakes to keep the car steady on turns and avoid skidding
• Active front head restraints for extra protection during collisions
• Side-impact airbags in the front seats
• A rollover-sensing side curtain airbag, which activates if an accident causes the car to roll over

With three rows of seating, the interior has enough space for the whole family. The Santa Fe also has climate control and electric windows, which are handy for keeping everybody cool. Some drivers note that the base model interiors have been made from lower grade fabrics—however, the Santa Fe Luxury model comes with a black or grey leather interior.

One of the standout tech features of the newer Santa Fes from 2017 is a touchscreen display in the centre stack. This is where you can view external cameras and access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also two USB sockets in the back that should keep the passengers happy, as well as space-saving features like an electric parking brake. Some people find that the low-mounted headlights are prone to building up a coat of dirt (or snow), but that's nothing that a trip to the car wash won't solve.

Older models from 2008 come with full power accessories and a CD/MP3 player, with optional six-CD changer and dual-zone automatic climate control on select trims.

The Santa Fe has generous cabin space, with enough room to seat seven people. There is plenty of leg and headroom, even in the back row, and over 600 L of trunk space. Access to the third row is hassle-free thanks to one-touch technology. At the press of a button second-row seats unlatch and spring forward electronically. You'll also find plenty of cubbies and pockets for the usual family car bric-a-brac.

Part of the Santa Fe’s appeal is the space it offers drivers and passengers alike. Newer models, such as the 2015, have rear multi-link suspension which makes the ride smoother and is more compact, leaving more space for rear passengers. Some might feel the squeeze in the second row if the back seats are pushed forward—worth keeping in mind for long journeys.
