Ford Taurus Safety

Ford Tauruses built in 2008 and later come equipped with an array of safety features, including front, side and side curtain airbags. Beginning in 2009, trims include a rollover sensor that deploys side curtain airbags in the event of an impending rollover. Other safety features in models from 2010 and onwards include:

• Standard four-wheel antilock braking system (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control to keep the car on the road and under the driver's control
• Standard brake assist to stop the vehicle before a collision takes a place
• Optional blind-spot warning system to avoid collisions while changing lanes and backing up
• Optional cross-traffic warning system to assist when reversing
• Rear parking sensors for help while parking

When assessed by the NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) the Ford Taurus earned a five-star crash test rating.  

Ford Taurus Interior

The Ford Taurus has a very approachable and easy-to-use control layout, a refreshing change from the complex interiors of many cars these days. Power windows are standard, and air conditioning is an available option in all models 2009 and later. Heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats and heated steering wheel are available as add-ons for models 2017 and beyond.   

Ford Taurus Technology

Ford Tauruses as far back as 2009 are outfitted with a multitude of technological features. Auxiliary input is standard in all generations, meaning you can play audio from your smartphone through the six speakers. If you would prefer to go wireless, you can add Bluetooth connectivity and Apple/Android smartphone integration. These features are available in all models after 2009 and come standard in models 2017 and later. Other technological features in 2009+ models include:

• Rearview camera to assist with reversing
• Remote keyless entry, so you'll never have to fumble with your keys again

The Ford Sync infotainment system with voice-activated controls and Bluetooth connectivity became available in 2008 and was upgraded with each model year—as of 2016, it became the much more responsive Sync 3 complete with an 8-inch touchscreen.

Ford Taurus Space

Some drivers have said the interior of the Ford Taurus is not as spacious as one might expect given its large frame. This is especially true where rear headroom is concerned. Cargo space is where the Ford Taurus really shines. The trunk is a whopping 20 cubic feet, which can be expanded even more by lowering the 60/40 split rear bench.

Ford Taurus Comfort

The Ford Taurus excels at providing a comfortable ride with good handling and a quiet engine. It comes with power driver’s seat and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel column so that you can adjust the setup to your liking. For those who like the Ford Taurus for its styling and smooth ride but want extra power under the hood, there is the SHO trim level. The SHO trim level is a performance model which upgrades the engine to a 3.5 L EcoBoost® V6, giving the vehicle an eye-popping 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.
