Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Safety

You'll feel secure on your drive to work and while hauling heavy loads in the Chevrolet Silverado 2500, with its standard six airbags, stability control system and traction control. Rear-vision cameras were introduced first as upgrade options, then as standard on 2017+ models, so you can easily see what's behind you—this is ideal for hooking up trailers. Some drivers find the wide roof pillars reduce visibility when checking blinds spots and reversing. This downside is perhaps offset by the other safety features included:

The Silverado's power-adjustable, power-folding heated mirrors have a built-in turn signal indicator. They provide a good rear view, though they have been called smaller than those on other trucks in its class. The basic Work trim on older models from 2008 came standard with vinyl seating, a 40/20/40-split front bench seat and a tilt steering wheel for the driver to easily adjust, while keyless entry and a leather-wrapped steering wheel was available with the LT trim.

You can find an older 2009 model with a CD player and satellite radio. With the LTZ trim, drivers enjoyed some more advanced features, such as Bluetooth, rear audio controls and a high-quality Bose speaker.

You can stretch out in the spacious interior, which offers around 45 inches of legroom in the front. Rear legroom is just under 41 inches for the long box and nearly 35 inches for the standard box. If you need more space to stretch out, the box length and cab size can both be customized—though, this can quickly become costly.

Driving on uneven terrain is no problem for the Silverado 2500 with its high-performance suspension. The cabin is quiet thanks to sound-deadening materials and inlaid, triple-sealed doors. Cargo length for the long box is about 98 inches and 79 inches for the standard box. Both the Duramax® 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 and the Vortec 6.0L gasoline V8 engines provide tremendous power and make towing heavy payloads a breeze.
