The Chevrolet Colorado is built to withstand the rigours of a work site, making it a willing companion for everyday duties. Its high-strength steel construction, reinforced safety cage and six standard airbags keep drivers feeling secure. Its raised ride height provides a comforting and commanding view of the road ahead. While it has a strong number of physical safety features, the Colorado only has a small lineup of digital safety tech, which is a drawback for some drivers.

Whether you pick the two-door or crew cab, the Chevrolet Colorado comes with a hard-wearing interior. The design is functional and attractive, and newer models come with an easy-to-use infotainment system. Seating choices include vinyl, cloth and partial-leather options, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel available on select trims.

Chevrolet Colorado Technology

The Chevrolet Colorado can be tricked out with a variety of handy technology. Unfortunately, most of the best features are pricey options, quickly driving up the sticker price. Some of these include wireless charging, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and the biggest version of the in-dash infotainment screen. Standard tech on the current Colorado includes:

Note that the first-generation Chevrolet Colorados come with less technology, as the model was introduced back in 2003.

Even as a smaller truck, the Colorado offers up plenty of room for your family or your work crew. The four-door model offers more space in the second row, but even adults should find the two-door’s backseat acceptable while on short journeys. Order up the long bed, and your Colorado comes with 1,880 mm of storage out back.

Thanks to its class-exclusive turbo engine, the Chevrolet Colorado is the towing champ of mid-size trucks. Properly equipped, it pulls up to 3,493 kg. As is the case with most trucks, be prepared for a substantial amount of wind, tire and road noise in the Colorado. This is doubly true in the off-road-ready ZR2 model, which uses trick suspension components from Canadian company Multimatic. Despite this, the ride itself is quite smooth.

The V6 engine in the current model is actually more powerful than the first-generation Colorado’s available V8 engine, despite also getting better fuel economy. That’s what we’d call progress!
