BMW M4 Summary
The BMW M4 is a sports-like two-door coupe and convertible that packs a powerful punch. With a solid engine and a ton of fun features, this luxury model is well worth the price tag. Available since 2015, the M4 is the high-performance model of the manufacturer's BMW 4-Series.
With plenty of pluses and very few minuses, the only thing to give drivers any real pause is the substantial price. Drivers looking for high-performance, sporty vehicles with all the bells and whistles imaginable will want to take the BMW M4 for a spin.
BMW M4 Safety
The first release of the BMW M4 included standard safety features that focused on maintaining the car's brake performance, such as stability and traction control. All models are equipped with an SOS system that alerts authorities in the event of a crash.
The 2015 model came with optional safety features, such as blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure system. A rearview camera became standard in 2018 and optional packages include parallel-parking assistant. New models come with Active Driving Assistant, which includes pedestrian and frontal collision warning.
BMW M4 Interior
The BMW M4 is sporty inside and out with a polished interior that comes with plenty of standard options. Four cloth and leather seats are distributed between two rows, and front-seat passengers will find the ride roomy and comfortable, especially with 10-way power-adjustable seats and lumbar support.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel is equipped with various controls, and the dash and seats are stitched with the contrasting red and blue threads of the M mark. An expansive moonroof has been available for the coupe since the 2015 release.
BMW M4 Technology
Every year, the BMW M4 comes loaded with more and more standard technology. The first-release models were USB-ready and offered Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto became standard in 2019 models. In 2016, many more in-car entertainment gadgets were added to the standard lineup, such as:
- Harman/Kardon speakers
- Satellite radio
- Two subwoofers
- 600-watt stereo output for the coupe and 515 watts for the cabriole
All models are equipped with synthetic exhaust sounds to exaggerate that sportscar soundtrack.
BMW M4 Space
For a two-door coupe, the BMW M4 offers a considerable amount of space in the back row. All four passengers have an ample amount of legroom, even taller adults. The length of the doors might make getting out of the car in tight parking spaces a bit difficult. The cargo area is decent but definitely doesn't offer as much volume as full-size sedans. There are a lot of storage options within the cabin, such as a centre bin and door pockets.
BMW M4 Comfort
There's no denying that the BMW M4 was designed for speed. Its turbocharged engine can really roar on the highway, but some drivers have mentioned that the synthetic exhaust and engine noises can grow a bit tiresome. Despite its precise handling and robust engine options, the coupe and cabriolet cushion passengers from bumpy terrain.
