Audi A6 Safety

The Audi A6 comes equipped with an array of safety features, including:

• Anti-lock brakes (ABS) to prevent skidding when braking suddenly, which come standard on all models
• Front and side impact airbags in models from 1997 and later
• Seat belt pre-tensioners: These automatically tighten seatbelts to ensure occupant safety during a collision and come standard in all models
• Parking distance sensor in all models from 2007, with a rearview camera in most models from 2011 or later

Audi A6 Interior

The A6 sets a high bar for cabin quality. Leather seats are available in all models from 2002 and onwards and a leather steering wheel comes standard in the Audi A6 from 2002 on. Newer models feature even more luxury options, like a sound-dampening body design that ensures a peaceful ride.

There are also a variety of upgrades available depending on the model, including full leather trimmings for the dashboard and armrests, and a wood-finished steering wheel.

Audi A6 Technology

The tech included in the Audi A6 has changed several times over its lifespan, but you can count on every model to have a good selection for the time it was produced. Some of the features available include:

• 8-inch touch screen media player in models from 2015 and later
• Lane departure system to warn you if you’re drifting out of your lane in all models starting in 2008
• Bluetooth wireless technology to enable connection of mobile devices or media players, which comes standard in all models from 2008 and on
• Dual-zone climate control in all models from 2003 or later
• A high-quality ten-speaker sound system that comes standard in all models from 2005 and onwards
• A heated steering wheel in all models produced in 2012 or later

Audi A6 Space

The interior is one of the most consistently praised aspects of the A6 line and comfortably seats five adults. However, the Audi A6’s trunk is smaller than many other luxury mid-size cars. All models from 2011 and later feature power-adjustable driver and passenger seats with lumbar support, as well as heated seats throughout. The 2019 model also includes the option for 12-way and 18-way power-adjustable seats with a massage function. 

Audi A6 Comfort

The Audi A6’s light steering allows for tight maneuvering, and although this limits feedback from the road, it makes for a very smooth ride. The 2019 model’s steering has been criticized for feeling "numb", but depending on your personal preference you may enjoy the ease of turning. The suspension manages bumps quite well, and the optional lowered sport suspension available for models starting in 2005 make driving the A6 an exceptionally comfortable experience.
