Acura RSX Summary
The Acura RSX is a front-wheel drive coupe (two doors) available in performance-focused automatic and manual transmission options. Production ran 2002–2006, with the 2005 edition given an exterior overhaul. The sporty 2.0 L four-cylinder engine is boosted in the highest trim, the Type-S, to produce even more horsepower. Along with mechanical upgrades, upper trims also include luxury features such as power moonroof and Bose audio system. The RSX is an excellent choice for buyers who are after a fun ride that’s comfortable, reliable and suited for daily commuting.
Acura RSX Safety
Driver, passenger and side airbags are standard on all models. Anti-lock brakes, designed to help you avoid skidding and loss of control when stopping, are available in all model years and come standard since 2005. The RSX scored exceptionally on crash-test ratings for occupant survivability and offered front lap belt pre-tensioners to secure the driver and passenger in the case of a collision.
Acura RSX Interior
The RSX is available in three trims, with the base package offering cloth upholstery, an adjustable steering column and power windows. The more high-end trims (Premium and Type-S) offered extras such as heated seats with lumbar support control for the driver. Other optional and standard features include:
- Power door locks and mirrors, controlled at the push of a button
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel, standard as of the oldest 2002 model
- Leather upholstery, standard only on the RSX Type-S
- Air-conditioning is available, and automatic climate control is standard with base trims on all models
Interior controls have a straightforward layout and are user-friendly.
Acura RSX Technology
The technology may seem too simple in the Acura RSX, given when it was last produced. You won’t find Bluetooth or smartphone integration in any of the five model years. However, the basics are covered; for instance, the 2005 base RSX has a six-speaker audio system with AM/FM radio and CD player. This is upgraded to a seven-speaker Bose system in the Type-S model. The same trim package offers a Bose Richbass subwoofer filling the space inside the spare tire.
All model years feature a security system to guard against meddling, as well as an ignition disable device to prevent starting the engine without the correct keys.
Acura RSX Space
The Acura RSX seats four people comfortably. You might find you have limited headroom in the back, but there is extra leg space. Up front, however, the cabin feels roomy with excellent headroom and legroom. The cargo space is abundant but a little shallow. Some model years give you the option of fold-down rear seats for more room.
Acura RSX Comfort
While some drivers find the Type-S gives a rough ride, the sport-tuned suspension, stiffer shocks and other mechanical upgrades make it your choice for the most performance and horsepower. However, the RSX across all model years and trims levels is commended for nimble handling, responsive steering and balance on the road. The car's popularity as a choice for aftermarket conversions means drivers should not need to look far to further tailor the car to their needs.
