Considered a legendary Japanese sports car, the Nissan GT-R is a high-performance all-wheel drive coupe. Designed to compete against European supercars like the Porsche 911 and American sports cars like the Chevrolet Corvette, the Nissan GT-R is athletic, nimble and explosively fast. For peak performance, look for sport-tuned Nissan GT-R NISMO models which feature aerodynamic carbon-fibre body panels.

History of the Nissan GT-R
While the Nissan GT-R launched in North America in 2008, the GT-R name was first attached to the legendary Nissan Skyline. The Nissan Skyline GT-R debuted in Japan in 1989, quickly finding success on the racetrack with its 280-horsepower inline-six engine and all-wheel drive. Dropping the Skyline name, Nissan introduced their popular sports car to North American drivers as the Nissan GT-R. The 2009 Nissan GT-R featured a 473-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine, dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. All models produced from 2009 to 2023 belong to a single generation, with refreshes in 2012 and 2017.
Nissan GT-R power, performance and comfort
The Nissan GT-R comes equipped with a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine, six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Models from 2017 onwards offer 565 horsepower with 467 lb-ft of torque, while the high-performance Nissan GT-R NISMO gets hearts racing with 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. As a 2+2 coupe, the Nissan GT-R is technically a four-passenger vehicle but experts suggest the back row is more suitable for storage. The 2023 Nissan GT-R comes standard with power-adjustable heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control and power-folding heated side mirrors. Tech features include an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay; 11-speaker Bose sound system; and front and rear parking sensors.
