History of the Nissan 350Z

Introduced in 2002 as a 2003 model, the Nissan 350Z was actually the fifth generation of Nissan's iconic Z car. The Z car series was born with the highly successful 1970 Datsun 240Z, sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z. Building on the success of that first Z car, Nissan produced the Nissan 350Z, providing the thrill of a high-performance sports car at a more accessible price. A special 35th Anniversary Edition of the Nissan 350Z was released in 2005, offering 300 horsepower and 18-inch alloy wheels. In 2009, the Nissan 350Z was retired and replaced by the lighter and more powerful Nissan 370Z.

As the Nissan 350Z was only produced for a short time, there isn't a huge difference between model years in terms of style and performance. From 2003 to 2006, the standard engine was a 287 horsepower 3.5-litre V6 with your choice of manual or automatic transmission. 2005 saw the introduction of a slightly more powerful 300 horsepower option, and power was boosted again to 306 horsepower for 2007 to 2009 models. Debuting first as a two-door sports coupe, a roadster soft-top convertible style launched in 2004. Standard interior features include air conditioning, power windows and a CD player.
