The Infiniti G35 made its debut in 2003 as an evolution of the Infiniti G20. Moving upmarket into the world of sport sedans, the Infiniti G35 featured a powerful 3.5-litre V6 engine and choice of sedan or two-door coupe body styles. Transmission choices included a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual, and all manual transmission cars came with firmer sport suspension. Powertrain options included rear- or all-wheel drive, with the AWD system designed to run in rear-wheel drive only while cruising, capable of sending up to 50% of the engine's power to the front wheels during hard acceleration or when the stability systems detect a need for extra traction.
Infiniti G35 evolution
A second-generation Infiniti G35 arrived in 2007, with its V6 engine slightly enlarged to 3.7 litres. Transmission options increased, with the five-speed automatic complemented by a seven-speed unit. The Infiniti G35 again came with sportier suspension for manual models and featured a limited-slip differential for improved handling. The second-generation G35 also received a stiffer chassis, featuring bigger brakes and rear-wheel steering added as part of the Sport package. The G35 nameplate disappeared in 2009, and the sedan and coupe was renamed Infiniti G37 to reflect the larger engine.
