The Chevrolet C10pickup truck debuted in 1960, featuring a larger cab and bigger windshield than the trucks that had come before, with available beds of either 6.5 or 8 ft. long. The “C” in C10 indicates that the truck is a two-wheel drive model with four-wheel drive versions receiving a “K” prefix. There were three generations of Chevrolet C10, with the final model year being 1988, after which the trucks took on numeric model names. A range of body styles was available, including stepside and fleetside beds as well as a panel truck setup.
Second generation and Square Body
The second-generation Chevrolet C10 debuted in 1967 with a redesigned exterior and updated suspension. This allowed them to sit lower to the ground for easier loading and access. The bed received a double-walled construction made of rust-resistant steel. The interior was made more luxurious with new padding, insulation, carpets and the option for an AM/FM radio. Front disc brakes were installed in place of drums, and there were eight engine options. The third generation debuted in 1973 with larger, wider bodies that came to be known as “Square Bodies” by enthusiasts. The last year for the Chevrolet C10 was 1987, after which the 1500, 2500 and 3500 naming structure came into effect.
