The BMW 440i arrived in 2016 as the replacement for the BMW 435i. The new model name brought with it an updated engine, namely the BMW "B58" 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six, which offered 322 horsepower and 332 pounds per foot of torque. The BMW 440i was the larger of the two engines available for non-M versions of the BMW 4 Series. Both could be had with a six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic, and both were available with rear or all-wheel drive.
