By Kijiji AutosThe Scion FR-S is a sporty coupe with a powerful four-cylinder engine and an affordable price tag. The Scion FR-S was restyled and rebranded as the Toyota 86 in 2017, so drivers looking for the all-new model will find it under its new name.

- Cruise contro
- Cloth seats come with the basic model, but leather seats are standard on higher trims.
Safety features
The 2013 Scion FR-S has a perfect safety score from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Basic safety specs include electronic stability control, ABS brakes and five airbags in total. Some available safety features include brake assist, daytime running lights and dusk-sensing lights.
A rearview camera was added in the final production year under the Scion FR-S brand. There are certain safety recalls from the 2015 model, so due diligence is required when looking for a used car from this year.
What technology is available in the Scion FR-S?
A touchscreen became standard in 2014, which was upgraded to a 7-inch screen in 2016. While wireless connectivity is available, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay only became available with the 2020 Toyota 86 model.
Technology features available across all trims include:
- AM/FM radio
- HD radio
- Bluetooth
- Premium sound system with eight speakers
- Auxiliary audio input
- MP3 player
- USB port
- CD player
How does the Scion FR-S drive?
The Scion FR-S is well known for its superior handling around sharp corners. A standard six-speed manual transmission with rear-wheel drive offers substantial power and control, and the 200-horsepower four-cylinder engine is built by Subaru. However, it should be noted that the stiff suspension, which makes for great handling, makes the ride a little uncomfortable on dirt roads.
The cabin may become noisy at high speeds. The Toyota Scion FR-S has excellent fuel economy for its class with a combined 9.6 L/100 km (for the six-speed manual).
